A mythical race that is physiologicaly genderfluid and the situations created by this setting were all fascinating.
The powerful magic that allows these beings to interact with non awakened humans is capable of bending perception in almost any means necessary to make them appear humans, but apparently is still limited, as getting to work as a different identity doesn't seem to be an option.
So it led me to wonder if one identity would just "take a vacation" during pregnancy, or if the gender swap would be delt with magicaly in these situations as well. Or even if a male drinks cowgirl milk, is that identity now gone for family and friends?
Well, these answers are not necessary, and the openess makes a much more interesting reading, specially in a universe in expansion, but even if you won't say I still wonder, were these thing in your mind? Or It's not really meant to be thought about?
Anyway, lovely reading and it made me curious to check what else you've written.
Author's Response: I have thought about those things, and they would be explored further in other stories in this universe that I have planned out. Basically, the magic only alters people's immediate perceptions, not memories or reality. When a person undergoes a gender change, their original self is effectively missing, and there is a new person (of opposite gender, unknown identity, and family resemblance

That's a sweet love story! This alterverse sounds kinda cool. Is there more on it anywhere?
Author's Response: I have two more stories in this world posted already. Several more half-written, and a whole bunch I have ideas for.
