If you'll forgive the style: quite savoury, with hints of heartache but a good kick of vicarious hope to close off a delightful mouthful.
Weirdly, it definitely feels fully fictional. You did not have to include that disclaimer. I think the small number of implied ties is part of that? As in, most people who are wearing ties for some of those events either have more ties, or have many more stories per tie.
That minor examination aside, this is very nice. I saw the turn around coming, but your execution was still so perfect.
