Well, it was interesting up until it was revealed that the person who was the husband not really was the husband either. After that it just got unnecessarily complex.
Author's Response: More complex, yes. That it did. As to whether it was necessary or not... judgement call. I thought it was a nifty out-of-left-field kind of surprise, but it's certainly possible that I didn't drop enough hints earlier in the story to make the surprise seem unsurprising when you look back on it. I did try to drop the odd hint, but it's a fine line between doing too little and being too obvious about it. Oh, well. Live and learn.
