Lovely story, Portia.
Environmental problems are my profession and I can tell you, that parts of Holland and whole estates are subsiding due to fracking, I know some concerned ladies.
But back to he story, It gets off on a slow start but pics up momentum just at the right moment. I wish real life transitions were that easy, mine was't and my love life certainly is much more complicated than Mannie's, but it is nice to dream and after all that is what we write about, isn't it?
Thank you for a good nights read.
Monika.

Author's Response: Thank you very much for the nice comment. You are so right. We need to get away from carbon based energy. The area around Long Beach California sank over 10' due to pumping oil. That was before they'd even heard of fracking.

I found myself skimming it in parts. The story contains a lot of details, maybe too many, which don't seem necessary. It's like it feel bogged down.
On the plus side, the writing is good and I like the credibility of the dialogue.
I'm interested in seeing where it goes.

Author's Response: The story is in the details.
