I rarely read the magic or scifi categories, and just happened on this and it really surprised and impressed me, your story had exactly the result I wanted and was hoping for, as it described me nearly perfectly. Initially I was always something I saw as a genuine pain in the ass, and I longed to be rid of. Then came a reluctant form of acceptance, along with hatred that I had finally come to the realization that I would never be rid of me. I saw a psychiatrist and much like Rutherford, he became a middle man in my gradual transference of "our" ID... but finally one day, like smashing a mirror, I transitioned, forcing myself to stop allowing my alternate ID to be 'loaded' into my brain like a program that ran my body, pretending to be a man. I deleted that program and all that was left was the internal gender I had been born with. Unfortunately there was no magical way to create a female body for myself to use from then on, and I've had to make do with the male body I was born with, converting it, painting it, and ultimately surgically altering it to best reflect the gender I felt I actually was. I'm sure there is some small image of that 'pretend' mental gender that allowed me to pretend to be male somewhere inside my mind, like a 'ghost' image of a deleted file or program on a disk drive. But its inaccessible now, and I don't miss it... perhaps it deserved its own body as well, but once I realized the only useful part of my 'sexual brain' was female, the rest that pretended to be male was eventually wiped from my hard drive :) I guess in order to translate to your story... HE had only created one entity and the whatever male piece was left was simply allowed to fade away. GREAT story, it really got the little grey cells going, thanks for sharing it. Cheers! --- Josie

Very nice. This is my second or third re-read, and I enjoyed watching how you slowly let us in who Heather is. At first I think she is a stalker, then I think that she is a psycho stalker... And that the 'waking up' person is Heather, not Stephan. I bet the "new soul" ( if that's the right word) in the male Stephan body will be as happy as Heather. Thank you.
